50 years of pizza, patio weather & a prom pact
Local stories and neighborhood updates you actually care about.
Happy Thursday! After two nights in a row of freeze advisories (that felt like a personal insult) next week’s forecast is looking like a peace offering. Thank you Mother Nature.
But before we get ahead of ourselves, we’ve got a big week to recap. For absolutely no good reason it’s a "p" heavy edition (pizza, patios, prom). I don’t choose the news, the news chose me.
By the way, if you find us even mildly entertaining, we’d be forever grateful if you forwarded this to a friend or family member. We’re on a mission to serve all of Bucks, one inbox at a time.
📰 Local Big 3
A Half-Century of Slices: Nat’s Pizza in Doylestown turned 50 this week. To celebrate, a town crier (I also said, what?) made a formal proclamation alongside local officials to honor current owner Timothy Wylie. The best part? Stepping inside a time machine. The recipes and cozy interior booths haven't changed since 1976. 50 years of the same recipe? That’s not a business, that’s a local religion. In Nat’s Crust We Trust.
Patios Are Popping: Blue Point Grill in Newtown just unveiled a new 60-seat outdoor patio (just a little bigger than mine). As one of the area’s premier seafood spots, the expansion is a great sign for the dining scene as we head into the warmer months. Especially if your idea of outdoorsy is day drinking on patios.
Spring Awakening: The buzz started this week as hundreds of residents signed up for the Delaware Canal Clean-up Day (this Saturday). It’s one of the Bucks’ most successful annual volunteer efforts. The canal spans almost our entire county! And it turns out 60 miles of scenic views don't clean themselves, but a few hundred motivated neighbors certainly can.

A 7 year prom pact feels like something out of a movie. Two childhood friends (Kate Schwarz and Declan Rose) from Doylestown just honored a pact they made when they were only 10 years old. If neither had prom dates, they were going together! (I’m embarrassed to say my only commitment at 10 was finishing a pack of Dunkaroos).
Kate was born with primordial dwarfism & Moya Moya that has led to lifelong health battles. Despite the struggles and years in between the promise, Declan prom-posed with a box of doughnuts (Kate’s favorite). We can think of nothing sweeter…
If anyone deserves the perfect prom night, it’s these two. Now who’s cutting onions in here? 🥹
💡 Local Hack
This weekend will tick up into the 60s. And we’re going to make a bold request…skip the crowded parks. Instead head to Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve. The Virginia bluebells are hitting their absolute peak right now.
While most people wait for May, the “in the know” folks go now to catch the sea of blue across the forest floor. So basically, go for the bluebells, stay for the 'I’m better than everyone else because I knew to come in April' feeling.
Enjoy your day! We’ll see you tomorrow morning to help you plot your weekend escape.
With love,
From Bucks
P.S. we’re curious to hear your weekend plans. Especially if you’re doing something fun locally. Reply and let us know!
