Block parties, barrel aging and a lavender farm
We’ll get to the weekend in just a minute, but first - what are your summer plans? I’ll be celebrating America250 down near Rehoboth Beach.
Is there anything better than celebrating our nation’s birth trapped in traffic with tens of thousands of other sweaty patriots? Maybe, but we’re doing it anyway.
Next Wednesday, I get to set my Outlook status to "good luck everyone" and disappear for a week. I’ll still be here for you though 🫶
Anyway, while I mentally pack my bags, here’s what’s happening around town.
The whole county’s invited
Think of this as Doylestown’s version of closing the streets and seeing what happens (fun, fun is what happens).
Restaurants spill their tables onto South Main, musicians pop up on corners and your simple dinner plans turn into a three hour side quest.
If you’re looking for that ‘wow, everyone seems to be here’ summer night energy, this is it. The block party is happening both Friday and Saturday 5-11.
Red, white and booze
An orchard and a distillery walked into a barrel...and two years later, this happened. Manoff Market and Dad’s Hat teamed up on a one-off apple brandy made from local cider and aged in rye whiskey barrels.
Add live music, orchard views, food pairings and a release you probably won't see again next year, and suddenly your Saturday plans are making themselves.
The fields are showing off
Lavender is having its main character moment all weekend long. Peace Valley Farm’s fields are glowing purple, the air smells wonderful and you can snip your own bouquet straight from the source.
There’s also lavender ice cream. Which sounds silly until you’re halfway through a scoop wondering why vanilla gets all the attention. Catch it now because the peak bloom window doesn’t stick around for long.
This will be my first time ever heading to the shore for a holiday weekend. So your thoughts and prayers are appreciated 🙏 And any podcast recommendations are also welcome.
