Well, you, me, we made it to Sunday. The day we promise to be productive and then spend 45 minutes deciding what to eat.
We also need to ask…do I really need to watch the Eagles implode play today?
Anyway, before the coffee wears off and the laundry starts judging, let’s read.
Chalfont had a bank vault. Naturally, it got robbed
Most borough halls have folding chairs, fluorescent lighting and the atmosphere of a place where fun goes to fill out paperwork.
Chalfont Borough Hall has a much better backstory.
The building originally opened as a bank. It was even robbed back in its banking days. Today, it houses borough government, complete with the original heavy steel vault door and vintage banking signs.
It’s a pretty cool piece of local history hiding in plain sight. And honestly, it’s a much better setting than another beige municipal building.
Pancakes worth getting out of bed over
It’s October, which means pumpkin is deep into its annual takeover of the American breakfast.
And you know what? I’m not complaining.
If your Sunday plans involve no intention of counting calories until Monday, keep an eye out for pumpkin pancakes topped with sweet cream, cinnamon or candied pumpkin seeds.
Pair them with a pumpkin cream cold brew if you can’t get enough. Turning Point in Newtown has you covered either way.
A little taste of the Middle East
If your usual dinner rotation has started looking like chicken, chicken in a different sauce and the pizza place’s number...
Al-Sham in Langhorne is a spot to put on your radar for Middle Eastern food, with street food favorites and grilled specialties.
Here’s what gets my fat little hands rubbing together…
Falafel and hummus to start. Chicken shawarma as my main (chicken in a different sauce??) and fresh pita, because every meal deserves warm bread.
Know an oddball historical fact, a local business or restaurant that deserves more attention? Hit reply and tell me about it.
And if you know a neighbor who enjoys local history, good food and a gentle line of questioning regarding their life choices, pass this along.
May your coffee be strong and your errands be few,
Cait
