Springtacular, greenhouse brunch & a concrete masterpiece
Local stories and neighborhood updates that matter most.
It always feels impossible every Monday that we’ll actually make it to Friday. But we did it. Our reward? A 70 degree Friday. (I’m whispering so Mother Nature doesn't hear me and change her mind.)
With weather like this, everyone will be out. And there are always a million things to do each weekend. But consider this your shortcut. We’ve filtered the noise so you can go straight to the fun.
👨👩👧👦 For Families
Elmo’s Springtacular kicks off this Sunday at Sesame Place (Langhorne). The pro tip is simple. Go now. You’ll get the spring themed parades and character meet & greets without the summer rush crowds. All the magic, half the lines.
If you want something unique that doesn't break the bank, Gold Rush at Churchville Nature Center is it. It’s a hands-on mineral expo where kids actually get to be geologists for a day. Between the geode-cracking and the scavenger hunt, it’s a guaranteed win. Both Sat & Sun, 10a–4p.
🥂 Date Night
For a high-energy Friday night, catch the Adam Ezra Group at Sellersville Theater. They have a massive underground following for a reason. Expect a high-energy, ‘pour your heart out’ Americana show.
For a slower pace, head to Oldestone (New Hope). It’s a stunning church turned steakhouse that feels more like an experience than just a dinner. Perfect if your ideal Friday involves a cocktail and a little architectural awe.
💎 Hidden Gem
Most of us have been to Fonthill Castle (Doylestown), but few have done the Tower to Crypt: Behind the Scenes Tour happening this Saturday and Sunday.
This isn’t your standard walk-through. You get to explore the tall towers, back staircases, and the secret rooms of Henry Mercer’s concrete masterpiece. Ya know, the things that aren’t open to the public. Beware, it’s a bit of a workout (stairs, stairs and a few more stairs) but worth it for the eccentric history.
🍾 For the More Adventurous Among Us
For those looking for an adventure that’s active and social, Bishop Estate Vineyard & Winery (Perkasie) is hosting their Adult Spring Wine Cork Hunt on Saturday.
They hide thousands of corks throughout the vineyard. Think of it as a competitive, adult-version of an Easter egg hunt. But where the prizes are actually worth the sprint through the vines. Just an fyi, stretch before you go, it can get serious.
☕ Living for Brunch
Terrain (Doylestown) is home to arguably the most beautiful dining room in Bucks. It’s a huge, sun-drenched greenhouse overflowing with lush greenery. A literal breath of fresh air on the Delaware Valley University campus.
And the food lives up to the scenery. Their bread is served in a terracotta flower pot with seasonal butter. The ingredients are sourced directly from the DelVal student farm, so it’s about as fresh as farm-to-table gets. Unless you’re chasing chickens around your backyard, then you win.
🧀 Cheesesteak Hunt
If you’re gearing up for the Phillies game(s), there’s only one acceptable pairing: a cheesesteak. For one of the best you’ve ever had, head to Curly’s Comfort Foods (Levittown). The secret is their - wait for it - legendary ‘meat-cheese-meat-cheese’ layering technique. Side note: one steak easily feeds two people (but we won’t tell anyone if you keep it for yourself).
Enjoy your weekend! We’ll see you Sunday morning.
With love,
From Bucks
P.S. We’d love to hear from you if choose to do any of the above! We read and reply to every email we get.
