📰What You (might have) Missed
A Century of an American Icon: Mae Krier’s 100th
You can stop calling yourself old. Because the biggest celebration in the county took place in Levittown on Saturday, March 21. Mae Krier (the legendary “Rosie the Riveter” who worked at Boeing during WWII) celebrated her 100th birthday. She’s become a national symbol of service. The timing was perfect, as the day also marked National Rosie the Riveter Day, highlighting her successful decades-long fight to secure the Congressional Gold Medal for the women of the war effort. Happy birthday, Mae!
Idaho Nights & Neon Lights
The Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope saw a packed house this weekend for the world premiere of “Starstruck.” This new musical comedy (set in a small Idaho mountain town) is one of the centerpieces of the 2026 season. It drew theater folk from across the region. This reinforces what we already know. The Playhouse’s reputation is stellar. Fun fact, Robert Redford (RIP) started his career here.
Something Weird in the Neighborhood
Saturday was a busy day as the Bucks County ParaCon 2026 took over Newtown. The convention featured famous(ish) investigators like Nick Pope and Katrina Weidman. From local haunted history to discussions on recent UAP sightings, it covered all things creepy. The event brought hundreds of visitors to the borough’s shops and restaurants. We love a local business boost.
🏀 Local Sports
Archbishop Wood Girls’ Basketball Final Push: In a Class 5A clash this past weekend, the Archbishop Wood girls’ basketball team faced a tough battle against South Fayette. The Vikings battled but they ultimately fell 45–35. Good season ladies! The winter sports season is winding down and the spring schedule begins its official rollout this week. Let the 4 games of softball I’ll have to run each week commence.
🏛️ Town Hall & Planning Watch
Election Security & Ballot Planning: I can’t say it’s the most exciting thing you’ll read today. But the Bucks County Board of Elections meeting is happening tomorrow. Wednesday, March 25, at 9:30 a.m. in Doylestown.
Why it matters: The board will discuss polling place changes and new security measures for the upcoming 2026 primary.
Planning Note: If you live in a high-growth area like Bensalem or Middletown, pay attention to potential precinct boundary shifts that could change where you go to vote this spring.
With love,
Cait at From Bucks
