Good morning! My flower bed, or lack thereof, is giving me chest pains lately. If you have suggestions for plants and flowers that hold up well spring through fall, would love to hear it.

Newtown wanted to keep the birthday party going. So history gets the blockbuster treatment this Saturday. We’re talking Revolutionary War encampments, fife-and-drum beats, battle reenactments and actual cannon fire (the kind you feel in your chest).

Plus, there’s a community cookout, vintage fire engine demos and military drills designed to tire out the kids.

Chrome sweet chrome

The New Hope Automobile Show (69 years!) rolls into town this weekend. It brings everything from gleaming antiques to exotic dream cars that’ll make you question your reasonable family SUV.

This year marks a century of Mercedes Benz and Ducati, so expect enough polished beauty to dream of a second garage.

Plane awesome

Tucked away in Erwinna, Van Sant Airfield is easily the coolest retro afternoon in the county. Grab a lawn chair and watch vintage biplanes rumble overhead while motorless gliders float silently past like it’s 1935.

And (this is awesome) they even offer open cockpit rides to test how adventurous you are.
