Your Weekend Guide: Peeps art, aerial adventures & Flower to Tower
Hyper-local news. No slant. All love. Hits your inbox 4 times a week.
The transition from winter frost to spring fever is officially in full swing. So whether you’re chasing nostalgia, panoramic views or egg hunts, we’ve got you covered.
Here’s your curated guide to the best of what’s going on this weekend.
Best for Families
Peddler’s Village is the top destination this weekend. Its annual PEEPS in the Village event (which turns the visitor center into a gallery of marshmallow art) is in full swing. It’s the best thing you can do with a Peep, because no one actually eats them. Right…?
PEEPS in the Village: Over 90 marshmallow masterpieces on display (free admission).
Giggleberry Fair: An indoor family fun center featuring a restored 1922 carousel and a massive three-story mountain obstacle course.
Best of the Nest: A birdhouse competition where you can vote for your favorite community-built designs.
And we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention Sesame Place. Their Elmo’s Eggstravaganza opens Saturday and offers a full day of character-themed Easter activities.
Easter Scavenger Hunt: Kids can hunt for clues throughout the park to earn a special prize.
Photo Ops: Meet-and-greets with the Easter Bunny and Sesame Street favorites in their spring best.
P.S. if you have little kids, Shady Brook Farms is hosting Breakfast with the Bunny all weekend. It includes a buffet and admission to their festival field.
Date Night Fun
For a swanky and scenic evening, River House at Odette’s provides the perfect riverside backdrop. On Friday night, vocalist Laura Hull returns to perform, offering a piano lounge vibe that’s hard to beat.
Piano Lounge: Live music in a lush, 1970s-glam-inspired atmosphere.
Rooftop Views: If (a big if in March) the weather holds, the rooftop bar offers some of the best views of the Delaware River.
And if you prefer a more energetic show, The Tavern at New Hope Winery is a local favorite for its Dinner and a Show series in a rustic 18th-century barn.
Live Performance: Check their calendar for weekend tributes and local bands playing everything from classic rock to folk.
Winery Tastings: Pair your evening with a flight of their signature fruit wines or traditional varietals.
The Hidden Gems
The 33rd Annual Phillips’ Mill Photographic Exhibition at Phillips’ Mill Community Association is a prestigious (but often overlooked) event. Located in a historic 1756 grist mill, it showcases world-class photography in a quintessentially Bucks County setting.
Curated Art: A highly selective show featuring local and national photographers.
Historic Atmosphere: The mill itself is a landmark of the New Hope art colony.
For a pared down experience catch the Central Bucks West Harlequin Club’s production of Chicago: Teen Edition. It’s running this weekend only at Central Bucks West High School in Doylestown, showcasing incredible local talent in a “razzle-dazzle” (their words) high-energy performance.
For the More Adventurous Among Us
Hellerick’s Adventure Farm offers an Aerial Adventure that’s a fit for those looking to get their heart rate up. It’s a great way to transition into the spring outdoor season with some vertical challenges.
Ziplines & Ropes: A massive aerial course with varying difficulty levels.
Silo Climbing: Test your skills on their unique silo climbing wall.
Alternatively, the Churchville Nature Center is hosting a Camouflaged Egg Hike on Sunday. Unlike your Grandma’s egg hunt, this requires real observation skills to find eggs hidden to blend into the natural environment.
P.S. For those who want to earn their Sunday brunch, join the Flower to Tower Hike at Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve on Saturday morning. Be aware…it’s a 3 hour trek. But the views at the end are worth it.
For Those Who Live for Brunch
Try the Hattery Stove & Still. Located in the heart of Doylestown. They offer a unique industrial-chic brunch experience inside a historic inn.
Must-Try Dishes: Their Huevos Rancheros and signature Hattery breakfast skillets are what the locals order. We trust them.
Atmosphere: The decor features vintage hats and antique hat-making equipment. It’s a whole Sunday morning vibe.
Happy Friday! Enjoy your weekend
With love,
From Bucks
